Finding paragraph #2

The way the music is played and where it is played could be a main factor in the reaction to how the listener feels about it. Club scenes or "get togethers" with friends and loud music may invoke any type of emotion and problems could occur. Even if you are not at a club, the simple fact of even being around loud volumes of music can be trouble. Having the facts to show that a music genre is more violent is proof, but just blaming a song on an incident that might have happen is not right. Just because more songs play in clubs that have a hip hop theme to them may play more often, an accident that happened before or after you going to an event, the music cannot be the issue (New York Times). It might be the artist and the material they produce, but if you look at some of the most popular people, they might include some disturbing lyrics in them (Dr. Hannelore Wass). The flow of the song could distract the listener from really hearing the words; therefore, whenever they listen to the song again, they will just repeat what they heard but maybe just thinking about the beat in their head. If the origin of that type of music was created around that certain emotion then it should stay what it is; however, if the music was created around a central idea then it should stay like that (mashpedia).

We Did It!

The picture to the left is simply stating that with all the information I have collected from various websites, and shared to you all. The colors are all different shades of red because it shows the violence that is in songs. The dark red lightens because of the information that I have presented, and that leads all the way to pink where I have at least provided all the data I collected. There is no white because I did not clear this problem, but we can at least get the word out to those who may or may not know.

Reflection on sources

The sources for my blog were very helpful and reliable because of where I got them. Most of them were up to date except for the article of the Dixie Chicks. All of my sources helped in a big way, but the most important one would be Mashpedia. Mashpedia informed me on what all the different genres were and how they originated. The trustworthy website would be the one where the Dr had his own little input to what was being conducted. Out of all of my sites the most bias was the incident that happened at the club. The Author blamed the hip hop music for the fights that were going on and he did not even put into consideration that maybe the people did not like each other or maybe a conflict occurred. Altogether though, the websites are the biggest influences to this project and without them this blog would be about what I think and feel without anything to back it up!

Reflection on my process

This whole project was interesting and I hope to do something like this in the future. Coming into this project I just came to the conclusion that hip hop is more violent because that is most of the music I listen too. Through all of the my research and my findings have found that they were easy to find using the helpful websites Ms. Mckoy provided like Ebsco host and discuss. I would not mind doing this type of project again because of the awareness that I am bringing to my topic and I feel that I can do this about any topic. The most shocking that I found out was that rock and roll was some of the most violent genres in music!

Finding paragraphs #3

Where the different styles of music came from can also research where and why it is where it is now. Observing the first artist to create the genre or teach it shows their inspiration and motivation towards the art they do. From the roots of rock and roll to when it was played by piano and saxophone from the soul of the players to the beginning of hip hop when it consisted of just free souls dancing to a funky beat (Mashpedia). The music should not matter, but the way the person takes it; maybe as a cool beat or wanting to live out what the artist is doing. Bad influences can control a person to act on just reflexes and quick judgment. This can lead to a bad incident in which something bad can happen to themselves or someone else (Doug Reames). The kid who burned himself over watching Gene Simmons made a quick judgment that he could do what he did, and he would look cool doing it—unfortunately—As a result, he learned the hard way. Most music can be good, but to those that do show violence, being careful of what you watch and listen can help to lower the stats on the percentages of what music is really saying (OthordoxPhotos).

Finding paragraph #1

Through all the types of music, there can be no clear say on which is more violent. Some may have made the need to show harm more obvious than others, but it is still there. Even though hip-hop is looked to as the most dangerous genre, there are experts that say different. The bias of critics on writing a review to song may be hurtful, but is it wrong to think about what music they are into. Out of 700 popular heavy metal songs, 50 % were on violence while 7% was on suicide (Dr. Hannelore Wass). Knowing this really makes people look at all the cases that are steadily being handled dealing with hip-hop; however, this whole other genre is getting less attention for way more issues that could cause real problems. Also, it is not only the rock music, but the way the music is portrayed. The beat and flow of the music also goes through a listeners mind--deciding-- what emotions or actions to feel (Iowa State University). Just hearing the high pitch noise coming out of a man with all the emotions into each word he says can make anyone go crazy. Like before, there is no clear genre that is more violent, but it is stated that heavy metal music can increase pain intensity all throughout the body (Ebsco host table). The fast paced, exhilarating, heart pumping beat could have a major affect on a body.

Wordle on article

In the article on mashpedia, they were stating where music came from and how it got started.Music has been dated all the way to the stone ages where flutes were found to in the bible where Jubal is mentioned as the “father of all such as handle the harp and pipe." In ancient Greece is where music was heavily a great influence, because of the theater there. Then music was found in the medieval era, asian cultures, and then it came to america! With different types of backgrounds of life, that is when all kinds of genres were adopted.
